WOD Oct 5th: Tabata Tuesday
Who doesn’t love pull ups?
I know I do, and since I run Tuesday night, everyone else has to love pull ups as well.
We had fun checking on everyone’s kipping pull ups, those who could already kip had to try to kip as high as possible and we tweaked everyone else’s kipping ability, getting a few good kipping pull ups and some very decent controlled rocks.
We finished off with some one handed pull up training, just to keep things interesting, with quite a few people able to do some scaled down one handed pull ups, all while showing us that we need to work on our ability not to rotate wildly. Good job to everyone.
And then came the workout.
The WOD tonight was a short and brutal Tabata, with Sumo Deadlift high pulls, push ups and squats.
20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, for 8 rounds of each exercise.
A breezy 12 mins of work.
Did I mention it was Max Rep?
The goal is to do as many repetitions as humanly possible in the time allowed.
And then do more.
The results were spectacular.
Arbitrary awards of the day go to:
The 5:30 class: “We actually hate our hands” award for getting more tears then any other class.
Trevor: “What now.” award for setting the bar at an impressive 345 reps.
Joy: “Right Behind You.” award for getting 321 reps.
Stephanie: “Rock Out” award for getting her rock down.
Brie: “Badass” award for using heavy weight for her SDHP.
The 7:30 class: “Grade-A” for getting the highest average reps of any class.
Special Thanks to Will from Crossfit No Excuses for coming down. For those of you who don’t know, Crossfit No Excuses is run by Kyle Maynard, a man who is a source of inspiration to everyone and well known in the Crossfit Community. If you don’t know why, just take a look through youtube.
Everyone did exceptionally well tonight, setting a very high standard. I expect more of the same when I see you next week.
