Watching Erin go through her first Crossfit London Total reminded me of the radical, life and industry changing nature of the Crossfit regime.
Until now, all that filtered through to the fitness industry was feminized farces: Boxercise lessons, for example, do not prepare you for a boxing match; or for a street fight; or even attending a boxing lesson. It’s a grotesque parody of an effective exercise system with the hard bits removed, in the belief that it would become more attractive to women. Everything we teach not only genuinely enhances your skills, but can prepare you to walk into a powerlifting gym, weightlifting gym or a gymnastic lesson and not look totally out of place.
If we have it right, the fact that we give heavy bars to girls and make them lift them, means that we have genuinely begun to dismantle the barriers that often separate gyms into women-dominated cardio areas and boy-dominated weights areas.
At Crossfit London UK we teach everybody everything: everyone lifts, everyone runs, everyone suffers.
And you know what? It’s inspirational
