I was allocated a skillz session today so I decided to take a close look at some ring skills. I love this bit of kit. Now in the new gym we can have a set nice and high with a good long hang on them too. This makes them feel completely different form when the straps are too short. We dragged out the crash mat and got confident in being the rings this high off the ground. Practising our front support positions and then on to L-Sit progressions. Once this was mastered we looked at getting comfortable at being upside down. This for some can be very disorientating. This is normal and natural. But with practice it soon becomes fun. Once the upside down was mastered with a handy reading upside down test we moved on to back lever progressions and skin the cats. All this is massively working our core and has real relevance in our posture and transfers into movements like the Olympic lifts.
There was lots of good wobbles, giggles and blood red faces. Happy days.
On the minute every minute for 20 minutes of 5 pull ups, 10 press ups and 15 squats. It never looks much but with an ever shortening rest period we were soon up against it. Big respect to Cian for achieving the “I’m feeling sick” level.
We finished with a nice little Afterparty of Tabatta kettle bell swings.
