Who are our members? What have they achieved training with us? And what motivates them? Here’s a spotlight on one of the fantastic members of our community:
Richard started training with us in late 2014. Before that he was regularly taking part in races and triathlons and would run or cycle to work. He found us after getting bored of regular gym and wanting something different to improve his fitness and strength.
When he started training with us he wasn’t able to do an overhead squat with just the PVC pipe. He soon made strong improvements overhead and some more recent achievements have been his first muscle up, unbroken double-unders, and new PBs on both deadlift and bench.
The downside though is his wife complaining about the callouses, bruises and mysterious whip marks on his body.
Like for many it’s the variety, friendly competitiveness and great community support that has proven CrossFit to Richard. He notes that both members and coaches are provide great support and motivation to work as hard as possible.
Just to prove the difference his training has made… in October 2016 he finished the Chichester Half Marathon first in age group and 19th overall and he insists he wouldn’t have done as well two years ago.
Now if only he can conquer his arch-nemesis: the wall ball.
